SPARE TIME IN POLAND

We are students who would like to achieve the greatest success in the field of science, but we are also teenagers who want to have fun. In Poland teenagers have a lot of possibilities of spending their spare time. During the week we take part in different after-school clubs which are organized by our teachers. Thanks to them we can develop our interests in various fields. There is a choir in our school and whenever there is an important event  “the choir students” present themselves. Students who love music and singing are delighted with the classes. During each performance they wear special distinctive red gowns.

For how long do you go to efterskole?
The efterskole last for year. However, it is a year you choose to take after the obligatory 10 years at a school. Some might think: ”why would you take one additional year in school?” We think many of us choose this extra year because, we did not feel that we were ready or mature enough to start these three college-like years.

How many students are there on the school?
There are about 180 pupils on the school, it can be a quite difficult to be around that many people all the time, because it can and is hard to get to know everybody. It is very hard because you are always together with someone, and sometimes you need some time alone.

What is the difference between a normal english boarding school or the efterskole?
The Efterskole is a unique Danish residential school, where students from the ages from 14 to 18 can choose to spend one or two years. There are 250 schools throughout Denmark. In a normal English boarding school you have to wear the school uniform, whereas on an efterskole you can wear what you want to wear.
