SOCIAL MEDIA APPS

This article is about social networking services.
Today’s teenagers are using so many apps on their smartphones and computers that we can’t even count them. We will try to introduce the most popular ones in this article (like: Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Viber and WhatsApp)

1)                  Facebook

Facebook is an online social networking service headquartered in Menlo Park, California. This website was launched on February 4, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his Harvard College roommates and fellow students. Popularity of Facebook has grown so much that now everybody knows how to use it. At present there are 1.44 billion monthly active users. It offers many ways to communicate with friends – like mesagging, video calling, voice calling or voice recording. It contains things like fashion, religions, food, sports, music, literature websites and everything that has ever been created on mother Earth.

·         I think that having Facebook can be really annoying at times, probably everyone will agree with me. Nowadays when you don’t have Facebook you don’t exist, it is connected with social pressure because everyone has it and if you don’t… in teenagers opinion you are just weird.

·           Messaging on Facebook is also very popular among our age group. This is quite convenient method of communication. For example you can talk to those people who you weren’t really comfortable with asking for their number but comfortable enough to send them a friend request. In this way everything seems so easy and simple. But is it completely true?

Nowadays teenagers spend most of their time communicating, sending messages, posting things about their lives on facebook walls and following pages about famous people which they are interested in.

  1. 2)                  Instagram

Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.
Now the company has announced a total of more than 150 million monthly active users. Teenagers often use instagram for SWAG Lol Lol yolo xoxo. And  for making a great-looking album of their memories or document all their experiences. The most popular insta-thing is HASHTAG. Hashtag is just a link to collect all the similar pictures together and to get more LIKES!!!
Examples of the most popular polish hashtags:
·         #polishgirl, #polishboy, #polishfriends, #polishcouple– TO SHOW HOW AWESOME POLAND IS
·         #blonde, #brunette, #blueeyes, #longhair – TO FOCUS SB ON OUR APPEAREANCE
·         #instaphoto, #instapic, #picsoftheday, #vscocam – TO GET MORE LIKES !
·           #wonderful, #amazing, #awesome – TO SHOW THAT WE HAVE AWESOME LIFE !

Something from our insta-lifestyle:

  1. Snapchat
Snapchat is a video messaging application created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown, when they were students at Stanford University. Using the application, users can take photos, record videos, text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of friends. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their snaps, before they are deleted from servers.

Teenagers use Snapchat to inform friends about things which they’re doing at the moment. They relate all of the things – boring or not (mostly boring) or make funny snaps.
EXAMPLES FROM THE WHOLE WORLD:

Our snaps:

*that what’s called swag                 *mom trying to be funny       *stupid shoe

4) Tumblr
Tumblr (stylized in its logo as tumblr) is a microblogging platform and social networking website founded by David Karp. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog Users can follow other users' blogs, as well as make their blogs private.

Teenagers use tumblr as nice-looking photo albums. They share pictures, not necessary owned by them, just pretty or interesting ones. They can add music, gifs, quotations, notes and follow other users.
In our opinion Tumblr is like a secret society that everyone is in, but no one talks about.

5)Twitter

Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short messages called "tweets".
To be honest, a lot of us simply don’t understand the point of Twitter. There is always a group at every school that uses it very religiously to tweet and another group that uses it to simply watch or retweet, but on the other hand not many of us use it. It’s not as popular as Facebook, especially in our school community. It also isn't extremely easy to find friends on the site.
6) Some Facts
·         To sum up: Facebook is the most popular and frequently used social media platform among teens; half of teens use Instagram, and nearly as many use Snapchat.

·         It is not a secret that girls dominate social media; as we all know boys are more likely to play video games

The rapid growth of the Internet gave rise to lots of social networking services, which are really popular with teenagers. They are free of charge, so everyone can use them. However, they have both good and bad sides.
What is good about them? First of all, social media provide quick access to the Internet. We can use them not only to have easy access to information, watch movies, listen to music, but we can also write a blog where we share our interests, hobbies and express our opinions in various fields. It is invaluable for us when we have a problem, for example with homework, because social media can help us.
Unfortunately, apart from the positive attributes, there are also negative ones. For instance, we must be careful because the Internet is not always a reliable source of information. What is more, you cannot feel safe, because the information about you is easily available anyway. Furthermore, addiction to online social networks can disturb a person's way of living and professional activity. It is also possible to lose touch with reality.
Now when we know the pros and cons of apps, so we can say whether making use of them is a good or bad choice. Social media are there to stay with us but we must be really careful and trust them only to some extent.

  1. Live streaming is the latest fad on social media so make sure to get live with your audience from time to time.
Live streaming would give you a more intimate space with your viewers and encourage them to interact with you more often. It would allow more personal interaction with your audience in real time.
You can also share your live videos later, so that those who have missed out the live streaming can view them again. A tour of your business, a demonstration of your products or an interview with the creators are some of the possible content which can be created with a live video.
Make sure to make the most out of the apps which allows you to go live directly from the blog.
